A Bit About Me

Nice to meet you! My name is John Greska, a Technical Sound Designer. I am a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Music Technology. Throughout my study years, I focused on all the major aspects of technology in sound which include: using DAWs, doing foley, good microphone technique, the generals of algorithmic music composition, and much more. My senior project was a study on middleware, their faculties, their integration methods, and examples of how to use them, along with various interviews from the sound designers of several well-known games.

Upon graduation, I worked at several media-based companies learning how audio is used in the modern world and applying those skills to projects. They included trailer house Cutters Studios, non-profit media organization Chicago Filmmakers, and film production studio Dreamscape Cinema.

I am currently Co-Founder of Trashfire Games, an independent game company working on their debut game: "An Eternity Gone By". It is a hack 'n' slash made in Unity with FMOD middleware set to be released August 2024.

I create music, both vocal and instrumental, which I release to the public. My pieces have reached over 30,000 cumulative streams on Spotify.

In my free time, I work on several independent projects to bolster my knowledge of audio creation and application. I frequently create my own game audio soundscapes for display as an example of how to create immersive sound in interactive media. I'm currently working to have projects in Unity, Unreal, CryEngine, and VR using all varieties of audio middleware to display in my portfolio.

Thank you for your time, and I hope you enjoy looking through my website!
